Bengaluru: Searches on D K Shivakumar reveal investments abroad

Bengaluru, Aug 4 (DHNS): Tax sleuths continued to search properties linked to Energy Minister D K Shivakumar, his family and friends in Bengaluru, Mysuru, Mandya and Hassan.

They concentrated on the premises of his family astrologer Dwarakanth ‘Guruji’ in Bengaluru, MLC S Ravi in Kanakapura and his father-in-law Thimmaiah in Mysuru. Ravi is also related to Shivakumar.

The action against the Congress strongman began early on Wednesday and continued late into the night on Thursday.

It was reported on Wednesday that sleuths had seized about Rs 11 crore from places associated with Shivakumar in Delhi, Bengaluru and Mysuru.

The co-ordinated action has led to the seizure of documents relating to his various businesses, besides bank statements and cheques.

Sources said the documents reveal investments in Singapore and other foreign locations, and a property deal involving the son of a former chief minister from the BJP.

Unconfirmed reports said the tax officials found ownership documents relating to shopping complexes in Dubai and Singapore and a property in Birmingham near London.

According to a panchnama report, the search party only seized books of accounts from the residence of D K Suresh, MP and Shivakumar’s brother.

The report, which does not refer to any cash or jewellery, names Vittal Rao Nalige, a resident of RMV Extension, and Partha K R, a resident of Magadi Main Road, as witnesses.

Grilled for two hours

Tax officials questioned Shivakumar for about two hours about his connections with some solar power equipment firms.

A note maintained by Shivakumar came to light later in the day; it purportedly talks about Rs 3 crore being paid to the Congress high command through a hawala channel.

DKS’s mom blames CM

D K Shivakumar’s mother Gowramma suspects Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is behind the raids. “He used my two sons and backstabbed them. He is behind the I-T action,” she told reporters.

She said Siddaramaiah had remained mum till late afternoon on Wednesday, although the raids began in the morning. “He just tweeted against the action. Some people are jealous of the growing political stature of my sons and are troubling them. My sons are pure and will come out clean,” she said.

What’s in the ACs?

I-T officials got an electrician to open up the ACs at Shivakumar’s house: they suspected he stashed away cash inside. They had found three lockers at his house on Wednesday. They could not open one of them, an electronic locker, as they did not have the password. They called a locksmith to break it open as Shivakumar refused to share the password. The locker contained investment documents, a source said.

IT dept should close this case within 2 months & publicly announce the properties he had made. With his regular income how he can make that much of properties. String action to be taken against him , so that it should be a warning for other. Sell all the illegal properties & give them to poo people.

It is really shame on him as already he lost respect from people.

Shrimati Gowramma is not justified in blaming Siddaramaih for the raids conducted on her son. First of all, I have my own doubts if the CM was even aware of the impending raids. Secondly, if she had advised her son not to indulge in such activities, he would have grown up as a law abiding citizen and an upright minister. He would then have gained the gratitude of the people. She failed to inculcate good habits in him and now see the result.

This could only be the tip of the iceberg. Even God may not be knowing how much wealth has been looted by these ministers. We common people slog day in and day out to make ends meet and yet find it very difficult to accomplish that. Look at these rogue ministers. Aren't we the biggest fools to elect them just to loot the country? Why should these ministers have all the booty. This wealth belongs to the country and its people. The wealth collected from these ministers should be distributed among the people. And the raids should not be confined only to D K Shivkumar. Sonia Gandhi, Yeddyurappa, Gadkari, Shobha, C K Ravi and so on should also have their assets looked into.

It is a well known fact among the political circles and the general public in that area that DKS has amazed huge illegal wealth.
We only have to wait and see whether he is still successful in concealing them or not.
Considering the scale of raid involving numerous locations and large team it is worth the raid if they find only something above Rs 100 crore of unpaid taxes to Govt.
It is also very unfortunate to see that some people still support these politicians knowing fully well they are corrupt to core and involved in accumulation of huge illegal wealth.

    Yes..
Some in BJP and Some Congress are friends from inside while doing bad things on money matters.
But PM Modi will make sure all become good citizens.
Modi is from BJP, but he does not mind carrying out IT ride on anyone irrespective of party. Remember his own (ex) minister Siddeshwara was raided earlier this year?

There was a doubt among people about business deals between BJP CM and DKS. Now the things are coming out. That may be the reason for soft statements by this former BJP CM about this IT raid.
People are really being taken for ride by these thugs.

Congress had the time to raid them when they had power. Now wait until your party comes to power (hopefully). Then raid whomever u want yeddi or Reddy. They have already tasted this, now it's time for Congress to taste it's own medicine.

Hats off to Modi for his farsighted vision. Dkshi would have been Congress CM candidate mat be in 2023 state elections. Modi nipped it in the bud itself. Siddu is a spent force , there is no point in Fighting him as he anyways will bring down his give next year. With 2018 state elections fixed, Modi is ensure in a return in 2023 also.
