Shimla, Aug 4 (IANS): Tributes were paid to Y.S. Parmar, the founder and the first Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, on his 111th birth anniversary here on Friday.
Presiding over the function organised in the state assembly, Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh said Parmar, besides being a reputed parliamentarian, was also a great visionary and dynamic leader who dedicated his entire life for development of the people.
The Chief Minister was accompanied by state Congress party affairs in charge Sushil Kumar Shinde.
Singh said it was the struggle led by Parmar that the state got a separate entity and status to lay the solid foundation for its development in the initial years.
"The people of the state would remain indebted to Parmar for his tireless efforts for getting separate political identity," the Chief Minister said, adding whatever has been achieved by the state it was due to the path shown by him.
