Nine die in Nepal accident


Kathmandu, Aug 5 (IANS): Nine persons were killed and seven injured when their vehicle plunged into a 500 metre deep gorge in Doti district of Nepal, police said on Saturday.

The vehicle, carrying 16 persons, skidded off the mountain road at Botagan area, Xinhua news agency quoted a police officer as saying.

Four of the injured were in critical condition, the police said.

The vehiclewas en route to Dipayal district from Doti.

Poor condition of roads and ill-maintained vehicles are major reasons behind road accidents in the Himalayan nation.
