Won't be intimidated by BJP, RSS' cult of violence: Congress

New Delhi, Aug 5 (IANS): Condemning the "potentially fatal" attack on party Vice President Rahul Gandhi's cavalcade in Gujarat, the Congress on Saturday said it won't be cowed down by the "cult of violence and intimidation" that the followers of Nathuram Godse espouse, referring to the RSS and BJP.

Senior Congress leader Anand Sharma said that theirs was a 130 year old party that has seen many ups and downs and its leaders won't be scared by such tactics.

"This stone could kill a human. What was the police doing... Let me say that Rahul Gandhi and Congress party won't be intimidated by such tactics," Sharma said as he showed a piece of concrete boulder, that was allegedly hurled at the car of Gandhi in Gujarat on Friday.

Congress spokesman Randeep Surjewala accused the Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani of shielding the goons who perpetrated the attack.

"We have lodged a complaint of 'murderous assault' against four BJP workers, but the police has not registered an FIR so far," Surjewala said.

He alleged that the BJP-led Gujarat administration deliberately ignored the protocol that is followed in case of an SPG protectee, as Rahul Gandhi is.

"Let's tell them that Godsewaad did not succeed in 1948, and it would neither succeed now. It is Gandhiwaad that has prevailed and will prevail," he said.

On Friday, Rahul Gandhi faced hostile black-flag waving crowds shouting slogans in favour of Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his tour of flood hit Dhanera town in Gujarat's Banaskantha district, forcing him to beat a retreat. His car was also pelted with stones, shattering some windows.

Rahul Gandhi has also criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his party for the attack on his convoy in Gujarat, saying that it was "the style of politics pursued by the BJP and RSS".

Nathuram Godse, a Hindu Mahasabha member and perceived close to RSS founder Vinayak Damodar Savarkar, assassinated Mahatma Gandhi on January 30, 1948.

The real 'Jungle Raj' is now very much evident in BJP ruled states. From Rahul Gandhi to latest Bihar lynching happened within 10 days of Nitish forming alliance with BJP.

It does prove that PM Modi is one of the weakest PM of India who can't maintain law and order in his tenure. He has already expressed his inability to get him killed from 'Gauathakwand' instead of killing innocents Dalits.

PM Modi should now realise that he and his party is in the seat of power with highest posts of ruling. Any nation to develop peace and security is the basic necessity. If PM Modi is unable to maintain dignity of this nation and secular credentials he should vacate his position. Just sitting and dictating few words in his 'mann ki baat' relying completely on his social media cottage industry and paid media is not going to solve the problem of this nation.
India is not come to stand still and self declared emergency in last 70 years of Congress ruling. For any government 3 years should start showing the results by now. But BJP has failed in all fronts so far.

Our Honourable Prime Minister in his quest for power made a lot of provocatine statements before 2014 that has vitiated the atmosphere in our country. What we are witnessing country wide is a cult of voilence which even BBC has recently discribed as mob voilence Governing India. PM Modi is finding it difficult to insulate himself and so his deafenning silence on all such distressing incidents. No way we are going to be a super power with such fault lines.

If the life of the leader of the Principal Opposition Party of our country can be threatened, imagine the plight of those who are lynched by the COW saviors in India. A fear psychosis has gripped the nation and rightly said by Dr Manmohan Singh , democracy is under threat. The President should summon the Prime Minister and seek his explanation on the action taken against those who assaulted Mr Rahul Gandhi.
