Ranchi, Aug 5 (IANS): An FIR has been lodged against two police officers for instigating a youth to commit suicide, police said on Saturday.

According to police, the FIR was lodged on the statement of Suresh Kumar, the father of Shiva Kumar who committed suicide.

Shiva Kumar had alleged police torture in his suicide note.

The FIR has been lodged against Inspector Ajay Kumar, the in-charge of Chutia Police Station, and City Deputy Superintendent of Police Shambhu Singh.

Ajay Kumar has been removed after the incident.

Shiva Kumar committed suicide on Thursday morning by hanging himself from a tree. A
resident of Dhanbad district, had come to Ranchi for passport related work. His father claimed that he was abducted by someone.

Shiva Kumar, who lodged a police complaint regarding his abduction, in his suicide note alleged that the two police officers had tortured and used foul language against him and his father.

He had written a letter to the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) regarding the mental torture by the police.
