Rajya Sabha TV CEO resigns, Prasar Bhartis Vempati given charge

New Delhi, Aug 13 (IANS): Rajya Sabha TV CEO Gurdeep Singh Sappal on Saturday announced his resignation from the post. Prasar Bharti CEO Shashi Shekhar Vempati has been given addition charge of the channel.

Sappal, announcing his resignation on Facebook, thanked Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu for accepting his resignation.

Rajya Sabha TV is owned and operated by the Upper House of Parliament, and the Vice President is its chairman.

"I have always held a principled view that if one has been nominated, rather than having been elected in polls or selected through exams, one must move out with the principal," Sappal said in his message.

Sappal, also the Officer on Special Duty to former Vice President M. Hamid Ansari, credited with conceptualising and establishing Rajya Sabha TV.
