Lucknow, Aug 14 (IANS): A senior sub-inspector of Uttar Pradesh police was killed and four policemen injured in a road accident in Mathura, an official said on Monday.
The deceased - Zakir Ali, posted at Sureer police station was on a patrolling duty when the police jeep collided with a tractor laden with bricks late on Sunday.
The tractor driver fled the accident scene. A police official said the bricks fell on Ali and he died on the spot.
The rescue team had a difficult time pulling out his body from under the pile of bricks.
Ali's body has been sent for autopsy. The other injured policemen have received medical care and are said to be out of danger.
