Jharkhand celebrates Independence Day


Ranchi, Aug 15 (IANS): Independence Day celebrations took place across Jharkhand amid tight security.

Chief Minister Raghubar Das hoisted the tricolour at the Morabadi ground here.

Speaking on the occasion, Das enumerated his government's efforts in different sectors.

"We have undertaken different work in medical, education, irrigations sectors. Similar to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'New India' concept, we are also working on a 'New Jharkhand' idea," said Raghubar.

Governor Draupdi Mumru hoisted the national flag in Dumka city.

Events were also held in hundreds of schools and colleges.
