Bangalore, May 17: The Bangalore Airport Police yesterday arrested three students of JSS Medical College here for allegedly kidnapping a post-graduate (MD) medical student studying in the same College.
Duke Prasol Jaspal from Himachal Pradesh, who was residing in the city from the past one-and-half-years, was rescued by the Police.
Three second year PG students from Andhra Pradesh Anil Reddy, Chunchared Reddy and Rama Reddy — allegedly kidnapped the first year PG student Jaspal for ransom, it is alleged.
On Thursday morning, the trio entered the flat of Jaspal at Gayatri Apartments in Lakshmipuram and took him in a car. They held him hostage at a hotel in Bangalore, where they demanded a ransom of Rs. 5 lakh for his release.
Jaspal later called his father, who resides in Himachal Pradesh, over phone and informed him that he had been kidnapped and the kidnappers were demanding a ransom.
His father immediately infor-med the matter to Airport Police in Bangalore and also gave information that his son might have been detained in Varthur or in the hotel of the surrounding areas.
The Varthur Police Station Inspector Raviprakash and the staff of Bangalore Airport Police Station undertook an operation based on this information and succeeded in nabbing the three persons last evening.
Jaspal belonging to a rich family used to spend lavishly. The Airport Police suspect that more persons may be behind this kidnap and said that investigation is going on. A case has been registered in Airport Police Station in this regard.
Some of the residents of Gayatri Apartments gave information about the kidnapping of Jaspal to the Lakshmipuram Police. The Lakshmipuram Police Inspector Marikalegowda said that they are conducting investigation as the kidnapped person resided in the limits of Lakshmipuram Police Station.
The Bangalore Airport Police Station Inspector has said that the case will be transferred to Mysore.
Meanwhile, the case has taken a new twist with the victim's father refusing to pursue the case, according to Lakshmipuram Police Sub-Inspector Shivanna.
He told Star of Mysore that Jaspal's father spoke to him last night and claimed that the three students were known to him. "They have not demanded ransom. We are not interested in pursuing the case," he is reported to have told the Police.
