Bomb blast in Darjeeling, no injuries

Darjeeling, Aug 19 (IANS): A bomb ripped through the heart of West Bengal's hill town of Darjeeling damaging a few shops early on Saturday, police said.

No injuries were reported in the incident that caused panic among locals.

"There was a bomb blast in Darjeeling's motor stand area post midnight. No one got injured as the place was empty at the time of the blast. We are investigating the incident," Superintendent of Police Akhilesh Kumar Chaturvedi told IANS.

The blast took place on the 69th day of the indefinite shutdown called by the Gorkha Janamukti Morcha (GJM), which has demand a separate Gorkhaland state be carved out of the north Bengal hills.

According to sources, a number of shops and the road in front of the motor stand area have been damaged.

Fire tenders, police and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel rushed to the spot after the blast. The police have been deployed in the area.

No individual or organisation has so far taken responsibility of the blast.

    Darjeeling is one of the best known summer holidays in the past. The BJP power hunger to wrest West Bengal from CM Mamata Banerjee TMC using Gorkhaland is main reason for the present unrest.

    In last elections BJP in it manifesto has promised a separate state status which Banerjee is resisting. BJP is now resorting to violence by pitting Gorkha against the state government in restive peaceful place .

    For BJP to remain in the seat of power the party will do anything which is against the interest of the nation. In ASSAM they gave ticket to ULFA militants who has fought against India for separate nation. In Tamil Nadu it has an alliance with MDMK whose founder Vaiko is open LTTE supporter and member to jailed in terrorism charges. In J&K party is the alliance Mufti party which defended Afzal Guru. In Nagaland they are in coalition partner Naga people's front which too fought against state of India.
    BJP and Modi Bhakt who are know opened an university of 'nationlistism' to issue certificate has no problem even Baba Ramdev aide having meeting with India's most dreaded terrorist Hafiz saeed.
