Margao, May 23: Residents of Banaulim have resolved to revoke the NOC granted to a mega housing project in their locality. This decision was taken at a special Gramsabha convened for the purpose.

Vigilant Goans have begun opposing big housing projects coming up along the beaches in various parts of the state.

Karmannem, Varca, Banaulim, Curtari, and Nuve panchayats of Salcete are other localities that have resolved to withdraw the NOCs given to similar projects.

Villagers who met Chief Minister Digamber Kamat on Thursday requested his intervention in the matter.

The Minister has assured that a task force formed for Regional Plan 2021 will study the issue and decide on a course of action. He urged the residents to study the legalities involved before opposing the projects.

Interestingly, political leaders have remained mum on the issue despite intensified agitations.
