Lucknow, Sep 1: Upset that her father discontinued her education in an English medium school, a minor girl threatened suicide by climbing a mobile tower in Uttar Pradesh’s Maharajganj district.

Fourteen year old Kusum Kumari had just cleared her Class IV from an English medium school, in Bali village. Her father Ratan Lal who could not afford the private school’s fee, enrolled her in a nearby government school for Class V.

Kusum protested against her father, but as he did not succumb, she climbed a mobile tower and threatened to jump off if her demand was not met.

The police officials tried to convince the girl but she did not budge and climbed further up. After two local officials assured her that they will persuade her father, she got down.

Her father works as a chaat vendor. He told the police that he can hardly make two ends meet and hence he enrolled his daughter in a government school.
