New Delhi, Sep 4 (DHNS): The Supreme Court on Monday warned AIADMK leader TTV Dhinakaran of imposing Rs 10 lakh cost for filing a frivolous petition.
A bench of Justices Adarsh Kumar Goel and U U Lalit termed as "totally frivolous" a plea made by him challenging a HC's decision to dispose of an Enforcement Directorate case, pertaining to FERA violation, against him within 3 months.
"Do you want us to issue mandamus to trial courts to delay trial," the bench asked Dinakaran 's counsel.
"We are dismissing the petition. How much cost should we impose cost? Rs 10?," the bench asked further.
The court, however, said it desisted from imposing cost just because clients would be affected by the act of lawyers raising such frivolous pleas.
