Upset over Republic TV's handling of Gauri Lankesh news, journo quits

Daijiworld Media Network

Mumbai, Sep 8: Sumana Nandy, a journalist working in Arnab Goswami’s Republic TV has resigned from the job, upset over the way the channel was covering Gauri Lankesh’s death.

Recently, Republic TV took a Twitter poll “Should the Opposition blaming RSS & BJP share the evidence on #WhoKilled Gauri?”

Sumana lashed out against the channel and even accused it of 'batting for a rogue government'.

In a Facebook post, she shared a screenshot of the poll and wrote:

I have always been proud of the organisations I have worked with in my extremely small career in journalism. But today I am ashamed! An 'independent' news organisation is now batting for a rogue government. And openly so.
A journalist is murdered in cold blood days after receiving death threats from the BJP-RSS cadres. And instead of questioning these murderers, you question the opposition? Where is the integrity? Where are we heading? Some 'journalists' are even celebrating the massacre (that she brought it on herself.) Well, yes! This is what happens in Saudi Arabia and North Korea. We are just a few more deaths away from catching up with these countries.
If the fourth pillar sells its soul, where will the society go?

We have failed you, ma'am. All I know, you are probably in a much much better place.

P.S.: For whatever it is worth and whatever significance it has, I have decided to not put Republic TV as one of my employers on my CV and on social media. I regret my association with this rogue organisation.

In India only two type of journalism has left.
    1. Mann ki baat
    2.Arnab ki baat.

Rest no mass media is dare to speak. Ture journalism is hardly exciting which is the fourth pillar of the nation.

If they speak openly they meet the fate of Gauri Lankesh or else silenced like NDTV. This is the true reality of 'Digital India'.
I am surprised that Mohandas Pai among the one among the investors in this fake news propagandist.
    Jai hind

Arnab is a disgrace to the journalists' fraternity. He has sold his conscience, soul and himself to the BJP. It is very very clear from the way he is behaving. The first thing the BJP government did on assuming office about three years ago was to buy the media. Although cunning, that was a very smart thing they did. And as long as people like Arnab were waiting to be bought, the government was always willing to pay them a handsome amount. There is no morality left in our society.

Salute your stand dear Sumana!!! Very proud of your decision.... Republic and Times Now are two garbage channels which have no place for integrity and honesty... They have sold their integrity and freedom of speech the founding pillars of journalism.. The headless chicken type boss of Republic TV is a barking puppet mouthpiece of vested interests and does not deserve to be called a journalist, intact he and such journalists are a disgrace to the profession of which is built on the foundation of strong ethics... Great job leaving a place where you surely don't belong to and all the best to your future endeavours... all the very best!!

The moment court convicted, Gauri should have ended journalism.
Court conviction clearly shows, she is falsely publishing the news..
She is a blot to clean journalism

You may be ashamed of working for Bhakth channel Republic... but Arnob & Co is shameless. They cover up FEKU and his govt failures, Sanghee outfit's sins, for Republic TV survival.

    Jossey bhai,
Ask if the Modi government is rogue ? Do you think Arnab is acting on his own ? Do you think that most of the TV channels are on their own singing praises of Modi and his band of merry men and attacking opposition parties whether it be the Congress party, Mamata Banerjee, Arvind Kejriwal's MLAs, Left parties etc. . ? Could it be that the media/press are ordered to do so directly or indirectly through BJP/RSS supporters/sympathizers ? Could it be that the strategy used is mostly threat ? Toe our line or else ......................... raids, etc. may be happen ? See the raids on NDTV, any connection ? Do you think Modi is unaware and innocent ? If he is then why BJP bhakts call Rahul Gandhi pappu ?
Does the order for what is discussed and debated in most TV studios come from the top ? People are afraid to speak up you think ? Those who do might end up facing Gauri Lankesh or NDTV faced ?
If you make this allegation on BJP/RSS they will come out saying Congress did the same ? If so, why are you in government people must ask the BJP ? Just to blame the Congress/Opposition to avoid being accountable for BJP's shameful lack of governance and then telling lies over lies to cover it up ?

Jio prepaid rePUGlik channel and the editor in chief COWswamy. Only questions opposition for government failures! He has sold his soul and dignity for TRP. His debate revolves around Tharoor -Kejriwal-Mamata-Rahul -Sonia-left-Tharoor . Hats off to the journalist who gave tight slap and left Republic. U will be respected ! The day Aranab questions Modi will be his last day in office !

Your comments are like AK47 being fired but you have missed the real target. I understand, there is a hidden fear to name. People pretend to be ignorant. Gauri Lankesh was fearless and she paid with her life.
