Jaipur, Sep 16 (DHNS): Members of various Hindu organisations confronted a group of social activists, who reached Behror in Alwar district on Friday to pay tribute to Pehlu Khan.
The 55-year-old dairy farmer was lynched reportedly by cow vigilantes on April 1.
A group, Karwan-e-Mohabbat (caravan of love), led by former IAS officer and activist Harsh Mander, witnessed a revolt by Hindu outfits who shouted slogans.
After news of the Rajasthan Police giving a clean chit to six people named by Khan spread, several social activists planned to pay a silent tribute to him, in the Behror area.
Initially, the Alwar Police refused to give permission to the activists to stage a protest in Behror. Police sources said photos and videos of the incident that they accessed did not show these people at the spot and the location of their cell phones suggested that they were away from the crime scene.
Alwar Superintendent of Police Rahul Prakash confirmed that the reward against the six people has been withdrawn.
Owing to the criticism from Khan’s family members and social groups for alleged delay in the probe, the investigation was handed over to CID in July.
However, his family and the Meo community were unhappy with the shifting of the case.
