Perform or Perish: Praful Patel Tells Air India

NDTV

New Delhi, Jun 7: The Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel has said that it is time for Air India to shape up to international standards.

He also agrees that the airline is accountable to its customers or it can risk being over-run by competition.

The minister said this during an interview with NDTV on the eve of the 60th anniversary of Air India's first international flight.

''It is a tough statement I make but our friends at Air India, either they perform or they perish because ultimately it is a consumer interface, it is customer satisfaction which will drive the airline, not a ministerial dictate sitting in Delhi, he said.

I fully agree with the Civil Aviation Minister. In this compititive world customer satisfaction is formost important factor.Since Air India is our National Carrier, management of Air India must see to the strict adherence to Time schedule, customer care, good attitude of ground staff and food quality etc. No doubt one can see the vast changes once the National Carrier is handedover to manage from a Private party!
