Mangaluru: Can Amit Shah's state visit breath fresh enthusiasm in BJP?

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (SP)

Mangaluru, Oct 2: Dakshna Kannada district BJP has made elaborate arrangements to accord a warm welcome to national president of the party, Amit Shah, on his arrival at the airport here on Monday October 2 at 6 pm. As per plan, Shah will be accompanied by a procession of about 300 vehicles till the state's border with Kerala at Talapady. BJP leaders from Kerala will receive him at Talapady. Amit Shah will return here on the evening of October 3 and stay here overnight.

BJP has gone into a tizzy over this visit and series of meetings are being held by the party in preparation for its national president's visit. Separate meetings were held at Bengaluru on Sunday since morning for various party cadres. Being aware that Amit Shah will be stressing on booth level organization of the party, party leaders have collected information about work done by its Vistaraks at booth level.

Meeting of people connected with proposed Rath Yatra of BJP were also held and the concerned were instructed how to go about their responsibilities. At the inaugural of the programme at Bengaluru, in which Amit Shah will be the inaugurator, it was decided to put together four lac people. At taluk level too crowds of not less than 10,000 has to be brought together during the visits of the Rath Yatra, it was told.

BJP state president, Yeddyurppa, state BJP in-charge, Muraleedhar Rao, general secretaries, Shobha Karandlaje and Aravind Limbavali and former deputy chief minister, R Ashoka, led these meetings.

Shah will take part in a meeting of state BJP leaders and office bearers at Ocean Pearl Hotel at 10 am on October 4. On the same evening, he will participate in a meeting of BJP workers from the district at TMA Convention Centre. A meeting of elected representatives and BJP activists has also been planned.

BJP has made detailed arrangements like lining up his route with BJP flags. Yeddyyrappa and many state level leaders will be in the city. BJP activists believe that Shah's visit willl further boost the party's influence in coastal Karnataka. Police have made security arrangements from airport to Talapady and again during Shah's visit to the city on Tuesday.

In a reminiscent of last year’s angry protests, the BJP President, Amit Shah, on Sunday had to face a massive protests by angry Patidars even as he tried to address a gathering in Anand in Gujarat.
Shah, who is in Gujarat to flag off what’s being billed as Gaurav Yatra, was not allowed to speak by angry protesters, primarily Patidars. Agitating Patidar youths disrupted his speech.
Last week, members of Patidar community had created ruckus at Gujarat deputy Chief Minister Nitin Patel’s press conference in Gandhinagar and stopped him from speaking to the media.

Gujarat is scheduled to go for crucial assembly polls in December this year. The state’s BJP government is facing a huge anti-incumbency with local population asking tough questions on the government’s claims on development.
In April 2014, during electioneering for the Lok Sabha Polls he made his famous ‘Revenge Speech” in Shamli. Shamli one of four districts of western Uttar Pradesh was swept by brute violence in September 2013 that left over 60 dead, over ninety per cent Muslims. The count of how many lost their lives, incidentally, by rights activists and the figures presented in court are much higher. The violence had also contained the characteristic revenge rapes of young Muslim women and girls and widespread displacement from which the local community still reels. Not just the ruling Samajwadi party, but sections of the BJP have been held responsible for the violence.

Amit Shah was arrested on 25 July 2010 in connection with the Sohrabuddin case. He was charged with the murder, extortion and kidnapping among other charges. At one time, Shah was considered as one of the main contenders for the Gujarat Chief Minister's post. However, his political career was hurt by the arrest.
The business community of 'Paidar' who are one of the staunch supporters of BJP has realised the 'Kamal ka phool hamari bhool'. Is Shah arrival way to 'khabaristan' politics of UP or implementation of 'Godhra Model'?

Can Amit Shah's state visit breath fresh enthusiasm in BJP?
    No, I don't think so.
Indian economy has been badly affected by ruling BJP's failed policies.
None of Modi's 2014 Pre-election promises have been fulfilled.
Karnataka voters are educated and intelligent.
I don't think they will get carried away by these vote bank gimmicks.

It's really difficult to predict future, rather impossible.
However, if things happen the way it's happening now, Amit Shah's state visit sheer waste of time, money, resources and talent.
He better introspect, analyze what's really going wrong and correct the policies.
He may overlook the short comings, if this is really the way they wanted the Govt to function, they are getting what they have expected, but with no expectation to return to power.
