Bangalore, Jun 9: Excise minister Katta Subrahmanya Naidu has sounded an alarm to the illicit units that brew hooch in the state, to shift to other activities or face the music. He also promised that the hooch tragedies that the state has been witnessing of late, will be the thing of the past.
Speaking to newspersons here on Sunday June 8, he spelt out his foremost priority as ending the menace of spurious liquor dens once and for all. He gave those engaged in the activity two options, either to choose some other activity with immediate effect, or shift base to other states. "Towards this goal, I want to strengthen vigilance in the department to keep constant vigil on such activities," he explained.
Naidu who also has information technology and bio-technology departments with him apart from Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board, revealed that fighting for a fair share of jobs for Kannadigas in IT and BT sectors will be one of the top items in his agenda. Saying that he will give importance to ensure proper supply of drinking water to areas suffering from insufficient water, the minister said he will convene a meeting of IT and BT companies to discuss problems faced by them.
He scoffed at rumours that distribution of ministries has given rise to heartburns and confirmed that he is happy with what has been allocated to him.
