Bengaluru, Oct 3: "We will form the government only if our party gets absolute majority in the assembly election. There is no question of forging any alliance with other parties to wrest power. If we do not get enough representatives to muster majority, we will choose to sit in the opposition," clarified former Prime Minister and JD(S) supremo, H D Deve Gowda.

Gowda spoke at a function organized at the party's office 'J P Bhavan' to celebrate birth anniversaries of Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri on Monday October 2.

"The presence of the regional party, JD(S), in the political scenario of Karnataka is inevitable to protest the state's interests. If the people of the state realize this need and cast enough votes in our favour to form a majority in the assembly, we will rule the state. We will never enter into understanding with national parties," he announced.

In the meanwhile, state president of JD(S), H D Kumaraswamy, who was hospitalized for heart surgery, was discharged from the hospital on Monday. Although he is at his residence now, as per doctor's diktat, he has not been meeting anyone because of necessity to take rest and concerns of infection.

Kumaraswamy has requested party leaders, office bearers and activists not to meet him but a steady stream of people could be seen visiting his home. Therefore, he might be shifted elsewhere from the J P Nagar residence to stay away from crowds for a few days and avoid coming under pressure.
