Gauri Lankesh killers identified, SIT gathering evidence: Karnataka govt

Bengaluru, Oct 3 (Deccan Chronicle): The Karnataka government on Tuesday said that the killers of journalist and activist Gauri Lankesh have been identified. The Special Investigation Team (SIT), in-charge of the case, is gathering evidence to prove them guilty, it said.

"We know who it is," Home Minister Ramalinga Reddy told NDTV.

He, however, refused to divulge the details, saying that giving out more information could jeopardize the case.

“We have got clues, but we cannot tell things to the media for now, because we should have correct evidence for the clues we have got," he told reporters at Chikkaballapura on Monday.

Lankesh was shot dead at close range by unknown assailants at her home in Bengaluru on the night of September 5.

The minister had claimed about the SIT having gathered "some clues" in connection with the case on September 9 too.

The state government, which has constituted the SIT headed by IGP (Intelligence) BK Singh, has announced a reward of Rs 10 lakh to anyone who gives clues about the killing that led to outrage and protests across country.

As a political slugfest broke out over the killing, her family had pleaded against giving a political colour to it. The family had said the investigators should look into all angles behind Lankesh's killing, whether it was right wing or Naxals, as reports have emerged about a possible Naxal hand, other than suspected involvement of right-wing extremists, the ideology Gauri opposed.

Unlike Kalburgis case, SIT has done a great job by identifying the Gauri Lankesh Killers. Kudos to you. But why you disclose the matter when it is not over. Disclose the fact after arresting the killers.

If they have identified the killers what is stopping them from arresting them ?

Is he indirectly telling killer Maoists that "police have identified them, please make arrangements to escape" ???

Toppling all the predictions of Congress, communists and far left buddijeevees, the investigation might have narrowed down to naxals probably. That is the reason this Reddy is withholding the arrests!!

Usually police is capable of cracking any type of cases. If they are not able to solve means, their hands are tied. This may happen because the culprits may not be from the organization you are expecting.

They have only clues from past many days... I think SIT succeeded in catching someone who can listen to them & act accordingly to their wishes & tunes. The fake killers may be paid Lakhs of Rupees to agree for a deal.
100% state government will use this incident for political mileage by blaming opponents except the real killers.
What about Scotland yard police? They are in the Yard or not? SIT made them jobless & no commission for deal makers?

    Time to be educated on some key information;

Nathuram Ghodse (Ramachandra Ghodse) joined the RSS but left it as he did not find RSS aggressive enough in pushing the reforms hence he joined Hindhu Mahasabha and this was the organization that he was a part of when he killed Gandhiji.

Mr.Ramalinga Reddy's answers to NDTV looks like answering viva voce in examination. We voters are not fools ok. If complete investigation is not done by investigating agencies, why this minister serving half baked biryani? We need a complete report, take another one year time. Our deadline for Siddu is report before vote campaign.

Its your own Govt in state with entire police force and investigating agencies under their control.
Now how can anyone from BJP interfere in investigation ?

Is your congress Govt so incompetent to let that happen ?
