Beltangady, Oct 4: The court here, on Tuesday October 3, held that a man who was charged with hitting his father, was guilty of this offence. However, instead of awarding jail sentence to him, it decided to release him on the execution of bond of good conduct.

Savera Pereira, residing near Aladangady within Badagakarandur village, had allegedly attacked his father, Simon Pereira (74). Savera was also charged with destroying a number of things inside the house. A case relating to this incident was filed in Venoor police station on December 2, 2014.

The additional court here, which conducted hearing in the case, gave the verdict that Savera Pereira was guilty of the charge levelled against him. The judge however, did not choose to imprison the guilty. He announced the decision to release him against execution of a one-year bond of good conduct. Savera has also been ordered to pay a sum of Rs 25,000 to his father by way of compensation.

The judgement was delivered by judge of the additional court, K M Anand.

Public prosecutor J K Kiran Kumar had presented the case on behalf of the prosecution.

A perfect verdict, but penalty/ compensation is less. Assaulting father is morally forbidden. We people have some hope in judiciary system only. Politics, utives and media is behind money (only exceptional cases are genuine, they are struggling for their existence). One father was killed and burnt .Here too judiciary played an important role to give justice. Thanks to Public Prosecutor and Judge of Belthangady JMFC.

Great verdict. Courts should allow first timer guilty to moderate. Everything need not happen according to rule book. The guilty should be given a chance in minor cases to correct himself without harsh jail term.
    Salute the structure of democracy.
