Delhi Metro seeks books for needy children


New Delhi, Oct 4 (IANS): Delhi Metro has launched a 'Daan Utsav' to encourage people to donate books and stationary to help needy children, it was announced on Wednesday.

The week-long will end on October 8 during which kiosks at Vishvavidyalaya, Rohini West, Dwarka Sector-21, Noida City Centre, Sarita Vihar (Thursday), Vaishali, Kashmere Gate, Central Secretariat, HUDA City Centre and Rajiv Chowk stations will accept the donations.

"Commuters are encouraged to donate books and stationery at the kiosks," the Delhi Metro Rail Corp (DMRC) said in a statement. 

A volunteer for NGO 'Guzarish' told IANS at the Rajiv Chowk station that the donated books will be exchanged at Nai Sarak in old Delhi for school textbooks and distributed among the needy children.
