Not interested in being reinstated president, Dileep tells film exhibitors body


Aluva (Kerala), Oct 5 (IANS): A day after he was reinstated as its president, Malayalam superstar Dileep on Thursday wrote to the powerful body of Film Exhibitors United Organisation of Kerala (FEUOK) saying he is not interested in taking up the post.

Dileep was released on bail by the Kerala High Court on Wednesday after spending 85 days in judicial custody for his alleged involvement in the kidnapping of an actress in February.

Following his release, the FEUOK at an emergency executive meeting decided to reinstate Dileep as president.

However, in a letter to the general secretary of FEUOK A.C Bobby, Dileep said he is not interested in remaining as president and thanked the organization for extending support to him.

Meanwhile, Thursday too saw a stream of visitors arriving at his home, a huge majority from the film industry .

In the morning Dileep arrived at the St Jude Church, Paravoor near here, at 6.45 a.m and was in the church till 8 a.m, taking part in the morning prayers.

In a related development, Rimi Tomy, popular singer, TV and film personality, gave her statement before a magistrate at Kothamangalam in Ernakulam district, after the police probe team got permission from the Kerala High Court for the same.

Emerging an hour after her deposition, she said that since she had accompanied Dileep on a few stage shows in foreign countries, she provided details of it to police. 

Dileep is also expected to pray at the famed Sabarimala temple in the coming days.
