Mangaluru, Oct 6: 22nd annual national homeopathic conference, ‘Ventura17’ organised by Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College was inaugurated at Father Muller Convention Centre Hall, Kankanady on Friday, October 6.
The chief guest of the programme was Prof K Umamaheshwar Rao, director of National Institute of Technology, Suratkal. Dr Shrikanth B Konkani, principal, Bharatesh Homoeopathic Medical College, Belagavi, and also a member of Central Council Homoeopathy, New Delhi, was the guest of honour. Fr Richard A Coelho, director of Father Muller Charitable Institutions, presided over the function.
Dr Rao in his inaugural address said, “Many a times, seminars become a get-together or a time for fun and enjoyment. Delegates, who attend national level seminars, attend them only with the intention of an outing to a particular destination. But ‘Ventura 17’ will stand out and it will really be a different experience to all the participants. Today, we live in a technologically advanced world. Science has reached too far with its innovations. Comparatively, medical science is far behind technical science. It has to evolve a lot more than the way it is now.”
“People do not have time to wait for anything. Everyone wants everything quickly. Patients do not want months or years to cure their diseases or health related issues. It is a challenge for homeopathic graduates. They should work on it and think about ways to convince patients about homeopathy. Mainly, they should fill their patients with confidence. If they achieve success in that, the patient will automatically be cured 50 per cent of his illness. It will force patients to think about the value of homeopathy,” he added.
“Indians are pioneers of Nano technology. Our ancestors prepared various useful products with their own idea which we see today in markets with new innovations. Homeopathic graduates and researchers should be inspired by this and try convert homeopathy into a quick and effective medical form,” he concluded.
Dr Shrikanth said, “Homeopathy evolved to serve the needs of the society. It is growing in India and all around the world. From the last 15 to 20 years, more people are getting attracted to this practice. Our graduates and doctors should take this as a challenge. Every medical science has its own limitations. We need to handle it in a competitive way. There is a need for more researches in this field. In my personal experience, 75 per cent healing of diseases takes place due to the confidence of patient. We doctors should give them this confidence.”
In his presidential address, Fr Richard Coelho said, “‘Ventura 17’ is a research seminar and a landmark in Father Muller Charitable Institutions. Homeopathy is becoming an alternative medical practice and gaining popularity among the people. Thousands of doctors are engaged in researches on homeopathy. This seminar will encourage medical graduates and researchers to work harder. Many ideas and knowledge will be shared here and will benefit for everyone’s future. These types of seminars enlighten the minds of doctors and students and pave the way for innovations in this field.”
The souvenir of the conference was released by the chief guest and guest of honor. The programme ended with the institution anthem.
