Mangalore, Jun 11: Mangalore University proposes to offer Executive Master of Business Administration (MBA) course through evening classes at its college in the city from this year, according to sources in the university.
Working people, with three or more years of experience, can join this two-year course and hence it has been named Executive MBA course. Classes are likely to commence in August, the sources said.
At present, no other institution in the city offers evening MBA course. The university will be the first to do so.
Sources said that the syllabi and regulations of the course were ready. They would be placed before the Academic Council at its meeting on June 17 for approval.
This course is aimed at helping working executives, financially and professionally.
The university would charge less than Rs. two lakh as fee for the entire course. “Some private institutions demand a minimum of Rs. 2.25 lakh for the course. We are planning to charge between Rs. 1.4 lakh and Rs. 1.5 lakh as fee for the course,” an official of the university said.
Classes would be held from 6 p.m. to 9.30 p.m. on seven days a week. The university wanted to ensure the quality of the course to be on par with its regular MBA course, he said.
The maximum intake for the course would be 40. The university would be offering four electives, including marketing, finance, human resource development and Information Technology. The thrust would be on entrepreneurship and venture capital and supply chain management subjects, sources said.
