Panaji, Jun 12: As the sunny days are over, the hotel giants with their properties in the State are selling the rooms at much cheaper rates luring the customers to have a barefoot walk on the wet beach or romancing in the rain.

Across the board, the luxury hotels have slashed their tariff by almost 40 per cent compared to the peak season besides floating various tempting packages for the families to increase their occupancy level.

“Our prices are almost 30-40 per cent down compared to peak season rates to attract domestic tourists. We are getting good response even during monsoons due to our unique location,” Babita Kanwar, director (marketing), Goa Marriott resort, stated.

Similar is with the other renowned five star hotels like Cidade de Goa and The Leela,

“Goa in the rains is a serene and peaceful refuge for those seeking respite from the concrete jungles of the urban world,” says Mithu Basu, general manager (public relations and corporate communications), The Leela Palaces, Hotels and Resorts.

While all the starred hotels in the state are located on sea shore or river bank, the hoteliers have activated their marketing teams to sell raindrops to the guests.

“Walking barefoot along the beach listening to the roar of the ocean and feel the rain and salt spray splash on your face,” Basu says talking about the experience at her Goa hotel property which is located in the extreme south cradled between the Arabian sea and river Sal.

Other hotels too have jumped in the race to woo clients by offering special monsoon packages. Goa Marriott Resort has launched three nights and four days Magical Monsoon package, which comes at a budgeted price.

“The resort offers Goa tour, massages and exotic food in the package which is specially designed for the families who would prefer to head towards Goa as a stress buster or a memorable vacation, says resort’s director (marketing) Babita Kanwar.

Goa’s own five star hotel, Cidade de Goa, which was judged for the best service award by tour operator Thomas Cook, has also dished out special offers for this monsoons.

“Besides our packages which are sold for almost 30 to 40 per cent less tariff compared to the peak season of April, we also promote an array of activities for children and adults,” Neeta Sen, executive assistant manager (Sales), Cidade de Goa, stated.

“Our guest relation organize the Goa heritage sightseeing for the guests coupled with boat cruise across river Mandovi and an excursion at the spice plantation,” Sen added.
