Mangalore: Family Suicide Attempt - Police Recover Suicide Note

Mangalore, Jun 15: Inspector Umesh Shet, who is in charge of the attempted mass suicide of microbiologist Vijay Singh family in a city lodge, has stated that a suicide note left by late Vijay Singh, a Ph D holder in microbiology, has been recovered. In the note, Singh has accused his three business partners identified as 'Patni', 'Patel' and 'Shetty' in the letter, of harassing for money owed by him to them. Shet said, that the case would be transferred to Bangalore for further investigation.

District surgeon J Prabhudeva has said, that Singh had consumed cyanide. Three bottles of poison werere recovered and the substances that were drunk by the survivors Savitha, wife and Shruthi, daughter, are yet to be ascertained, he added.

Ved Prakash Choyal, brother of late Singh, who arrived from Rajastan expressed shock at the developments, claiming that Singh never expressed any problems to him. If I had known, I would have given him money by selling of my lands, he said. He also informed that his brother was good at studies and was not interested in farming.  Ashok Choudhury, a cousin of the late scientist said that Singh always travelled by air and gave no indication whatsoever to others about the fact that he was facing financial constraints. He looked jovial as ever, he explained.

Singh had come to Bangalore about 10 years back from Bikaner where he coached students who aspired for medical seats. He opened a micro biology labortory with his partners.
