Lucknow, Oct 25 (DHNS): Construction of the controversial Ram temple in Ayodhya is likely to begin before December 6, 2018, the 26th anniversary of the razing of Babri Masjid.
Speaking to reporters, Senior Vishwa Hindu Parishad leader and member of the Ram Janambhoomi Trust Ram Bilas Vedanti said the NDA government at the Centre would facilitate the temple construction through a Parliamentary legislation if the court’s decision is not favourable.
Vedanti, a former BJP MP, also said many in the Muslim community support the temple construction. “The Shia Waqf Board has already supported building the Ram Temple,” he added.
Vedanti also said that the BJP’s strength in Rajya Sabha will go up after a string of Assembly polls, hinting that the temple legislation will have a smooth passage in the Upper House.
The VHP leader’s statement is significant in the wake of recent activities in the temple town. Several truckloads of stones have arrived in Ayodhya, as UP Chief Minister spoke of developing the town during his Diwali celebrations there.
