Mangalore: Retired Corporation Bank GM K R Karant Dies in Accident

Mangalore, Jun 20: Kodi Ramakrishna Karanth(72), retired general manager of Corporation Bank died in an accident that occured near Pumpwell Circle in the city on Wednesday, June 18.

A bus that moving at great speed hit a car before knocking down Karanth who was walking by, at about 7.30 pm. Karanth was returning his home in Kapitanio after finishing his evening walk, when tragedy struck.

He is survived by wife, a son and two daughters. Karanth had served as special officer of Karnataka Bank for two years after retirement. Senior executives of Corporation Bank and Karnataka Bank chairman Anantakrishna have condoled his death.

    Heartfelt sympathies to the family of Mr.Karanth. I knew him. Very nice man. May his soul rest in peace. The drivers think that they are the only one in the road. That's how these accidents happen.

    The principle of First in, first out in a roundabout is never and give way to traffic on your right is never maintained. The traffic Police themselves do not know this rule. This is a major cause of accidents at Pumpwell circle as the bigger vehicles just barge into the circle.
