Lucknow: Minor hit by car in UP minister's fleet, dies; CM announces Rs 5L ex gratia


Lucknow, Oct 29 (PTI): A minor boy was killed after being hit by a vehicle in the motorcade of a Uttar Pradesh minister near Colonelganj in Gonda district, prompting Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to announce Rs 5 lakh compensation to the kin of the deceased.

Police said the minister's cavalcade was passing through Colonelganj area yesterday. The boy was knocked down by one of the vehicles in the fleet and died on way to hospital.

Besides announcing the compensation, the chief minister directed the DGP to submit a detailed report and initiate strict action against those responsible for the incident.

    Baba Raghav Das Medical College is a government-run hospital-cum-medical college in Gorakhpur, which has seen as many as 1250 deaths this year, 290 of which occurred in August alone.
    The medical college, which was setup in 1972, made it to the news in early August when 30 children died in two days, inciting outrage in India and around the world. Despite the outrage, a deeper investigation reveals widespread apathy from the central and state governments, hospital administration and doctors for years on end.
    About 10,000 infants have died in the hospital since it began operating. According to reports, an average of 250 children have died in the hospital every year, mostly of encephalitis, and another 300 children become invalid.
    After Gorakhpur, 49 Children die in Farrukhabad hospital in 30 days due to lack of Oxygen. Gorakhpur is what happens when a communal agenda is passed off as ‘Good Governance’.

    These ministers when they travel it is seen the pilot [police rushing driving very fast & Rash.
    Sometimes even the polices are seeing shouting & abusing if someone is on their way while minsters car is behind following.

    Ministers must be personally responsible for such cases - why take the compensation amount from the peoples money ? Will the same be done to compensate a victim if he will be knocked down by a common man ? What are Ministers ? Royals ?
