Doha: KCQ celebrates harvest fest, church anniversary

Doha, Nov 5: The sixth church anniversary and Harvest Festival of Kannada Church Qatar (KCQ) was celebrated on November 3 at Hotel Shalimar, here.

The day’s highlights included a special worship service followed by an auction, fellowship lunch and games.

The thanksgiving service began at 11.00 am. A special harvest message was delivered by Abraham. The special guest for the day was John Newton from Mangaluru. He led the praise and worship with special songs and prayer. The church service was followed by an auction. Members of the church and guests took an active part in the same.

Later, a fellowship lunch of delicacies served on the traditional banana leaf was organized at the venue which was relished by all.



Fun filled games were organized post lunch by members of the sports committee. A week prior to the Harvest Feast the church had conducted a few outdoor games at the Aspire Park. Winners of the various events were awarded with prizes by the guests and senior church members.

The day’s celebration concluded with a closing prayer and benediction by John Newton.

The Kannada Church Qatar (KCQ) was formed by a group of Protestant Kannadigas hailing from different places of Karnataka under the leadership of Pastor Chella Kumar in 2011. A regular church service is held every Friday at 6.30 pm at the Jerusalem hall of the Anglican Church compound.
