Mangalore, Jun 24: When the president’s rule was in force in the state, the Governor failed to take necessary steps to store sufficient quantity of fertilizers required for the ensuing season. Because of this, the state was facing acute fertilizer scarcity when B S Yaddyurappa took charge as chief minister of the state, said Monnappa Bhandary, Dakshina Kannada BJP district president.

Addressing a protest rally organized by BJP in the city against the union government for not providing sufficient fertilizers to the state on Monday, June 23, he said, that the governor was vested with the responsibility of properly of assessing the required quantity of fertilizers for the state. The irresponsible act of the Governor resulted in  bloodshed here, he charged.

The centre has released only 50% of the state’s fertilizer requirement for the month of July. But the Congress leaders Janardan Poojary, Veerappa Moily, Mallikarjun Kharge and H K Patil have resorted to mudslinging against the BJP. They have no moral right to do so, he told.

Later a memorandum was submitted to the Prime Minister, through the Dakshina Kannada district deputy commissioner, urging him to supply sufficient quantity of fertilizer to the state.

BJP district secretary Nalinkumar Kateel, BJP leaders Chandrashekhar Uchil, Jagadeesh Adhikari and others were present.
