Mangaluru, Nov 6: AICC Karnataka in-charge K C Venugopal on Monday November 6 flagged off the party's much-hyped 'Mane Manege Congress' door-to-door campaign in Mangaluru North constituency of MLA Mohiudeen Bava.

Speaking to reporters, Venugopal said, "We started our first leg of 'Mane Manege Congress' campaign in Dakshina Kannada on September 23. The aim of this campaign is to visit each house and spread awareness of the government schemes and programmes implemented for the welfare of the people, and to let people know that our state government has fulfilled most of the promises made in the last elections.

"We hope that the people of this district support us just as they did in the 2013 elections," he added.

He also said that in preparations for the upcoming Assembly elections in 2018, every booth level worker of the party has been instructed to work hard and meet people at their doorsteps so that people are aware of the work the government has done, and to ensure that all voters exercise their franchise.

AICC general secretary Vishnunath, minister for food and civil services U TKhader, MLA Mohiudeen Bava, MLC Ivan D'Souza and others were present.

The same day, a meeting of booth level Congress workers was held at Kavoor.

Venugpal visits soldier

All India Congress Committee (AICC) state in-charge K C Venugopal met soldier Santhosh Kumar, a resident of Mudipu who is in intensive care unit (ICU) of a hospital here for poisonous snake bite, and enquired about his well being.

Speaking to reporters he said, "Congress government is ready to provide any help needed for Santhosh's treatment."

U T Khader, minister for food and civil supplies, Ivan D'Souza, chiefwhip of legislative assembly and Kavita Sanil, mayor of Mangaluru were present.

Santhosh, who had come to his home town on vacation a few days ago, is admitted to a hospital for the treatment of snake bite of a poisonous snake that bit him near his home at Mudipu.
