Would you mind saying sorry? Prakash Raj on demonetisation

Chennai, Nov 9 (PTI): Observing the first anniversary of demonetisation, actor Prakash Raj today penned a note demanding an apology from the authorities for the "disruptive impact" of the exercise.

The 52-year-old National Award-winning actor took to Twitter to question the intent behind the move of the government on November 8 last year, which rendered 86 per cent of the currency in circulation illegal.

Once again titled as "To Whomsoever It May Concern", Raj's post read, "While the rich found ways to convert their black money into shiny new notes, this disruptive impact made millions suffer helplessly and the unorganised sector workers went for a spin. Would you mind saying sorry for the biggest blunder of our time?"

A vocal critic of the central government, the actor captioned the image as "This day... That age."

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had on November 8 last year announced the demonetisation of old Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes in a bid to combat corruption, black money, terrorism and fake currency.

Raj had recently raised the issues of moral policing, lynching "on the slightest doubt of cow slaughter", terrorising in the name of religion and trolling.

    Wow...What a brave comment ???

At least this guy has the guts to stand up & say what is wrong is wrong despite all opposition from blind bhakts !!! Able leaders accept their mistakes. But, stubborn still find excuses.

Demonetisation only benefited rich (convert black to white without paying any tax), Banks (commission legally for banks & illegally for its staff), Government (service tax on all bank charges), Bhakts (commission for laundering money through Jan Dhan Accounts).

It is a total failure even though the intention was good. Introduction of 2K notes helped rich launder & profit quickly. Only poor & needy lost lives standing on big lines like beggers for their own money. What a pity !!!

Oh maaraya Ponkra, Prakash Raj is one of the best actors and also his tweet proved that he is a very brave and responsible citizen of India. Politicians are supposed to be our servants and every citizen has every right to question them, be it PM, President, CM, MP or MLA. I saute Mr. Prakash Raj for his bravery and concern for the nation. Hope CBI won't raid his house.

Pokranna, Mr. Prakash is free to tweet on the subject of his choice. You can not expect or compel him to tweet on subjects in which he is not interested. Only concern is he should not be trapped in CBI net. Dirty politicians always use govt. machinery to silence their critics, like they silenced Mr. Kajeriwal, the Lion of Delhi.

PRAKASH RAJ NEED NOT DEMAND SORRY. MODI HAS ALREADY SAID SORRY HEARTFULLY ADDRESSING THE INDIANS, THE VERY NEXT MOMENT HE INTRODUCED DEMONETISATION.

HE ALSO SAID IN THE INTEREST OF THE NATION THERE WILL BE INCONVENIENCE TO THE PUBLIC FOR A SHORT TIME BUT A DEVIL NAMED CORRUPTION HAS GROWN BEYOND EXPECTATION AND TO SAFEGUARD INDIAN ECONOMY WAS THE NEED OF THE TIME.

MODI NEED NOT SAY SORRY TO ANYBODY INDIVIDUALLY AND VOTER HAS ACCEPTED MODI APPEAL IN RIGHT SPIRIT. VOTER WILL STAND WITH MODI TILL SUCH TIME HIS INTENTION IS GOOD IRRESPECTIVE OF RESULTS WHICH IS BEYOND ANYBODY'S HANDS.

The most common problem with celebrities is that when they fall down from the helm of success, they do all sorts of things to come back to limelight. Some, even leak their own private videos to media .

Prakash Raj should hire a good manager to fetch opportunities in movies. He is a good actor.
