Udupi, Jun 27: Dr V S Acharya, home minister and district-in-charge, on Wednesday June 25, felicitated 52 students of Government Composite High School, VOlakad, who secured distinction in the SSLC examination.
Dr Acharya credited the dedicated teaching staff of the school for the good results achieved by the students. He said that the school had proved that despite the criticism faced by government schools, the VOlakad school had proved that they were far better in securing good results than unaided private schools.
Undivided Dakshina Kannada district has been surging ahead in studies across the state and the state administration has been spending around 8,500 crore on education, more than any other overheads, added Dr Acharya.S
School calendars were also distributed to all the students. Municipal members Geeta Shet, Naveen Bhandary, Shyamprasad Kudwa, Canara Bank branch manager B H Puranik, Syndicate Bank city branch manager Chandrashekar, M R Hegde, alumni association president Jagannath Bhat, member Amrit Shenoy, and principal of the school Ashok Kamat, were present on the occasion.
