Mangalore, Jun 27: The governing council of Kudroli Sri Gokarnanatha Temple has said in a statement, that the statements being issued by Navinchandra Suvarna on the administration of the temple are quite misleading. It has requested the members of Billava community to ignore his statements.
This temple was set up by the Billava Samaj led by late Koragappa, widely known as Adhyaksha Koragappa, through Brahmasri Narayana Guru Swamiji. As per the documents registered by Koragappa then, the temple is being administered by the Billava Samaj. The administration is being conducted without any problems or hitches, and the temple is witnessing progress at the rate unheard of earlier. The administration has also been conducting the annual Dasara festival in such a way, that it has become famous the world over. A few people along with Navinchandra, who are unable to appreciate this progress, have been trying to snatch the administration into their hands, the council has said.
It is improper to issue statements under one guise or the other to unnecessarily vitiate the minds of Billava community members, in the interests of the community as a whole. As changing of the name 'Billavara Union', a registered body, would have created legal problems and also in the interests of the society, a person named Gangadhar had filed complaint with the district registrar of cooperative societies. After the decision taken by the said officer on the admissibility of this complaint was questioned in a courts, the Supreme Court held, that the Supreme Court is not in favour of reviewing the verdict announced by the High Court that it has no reasons to intervene in the issue. The governing council said, that Navinchandra Suvarna has twisted the contents of this judgement to suit him, while issuing statements.
A suit filed by All India Billavara Union in a local court, praying for the dismissl of the governing council of Sri Gokarnanatha Temple is still pending there. Issuance of statements on the part of Suvarna therefore, amounts to contempt of court besides giving rise to wrong notions among the people of the community in general.
Governing council members H S Sairam, Raghavendra Kulur,B Madhav Suvarna, B Manjunath, B K Taranath, RAvishankar Mijar, Padmaraj R and Mahesh Chandra have requested the community to grossly overlook such statements.
