Belagavi: Uproar in session as opposition demands George's resignation

Belagavi, Nov 14 (DHNS): The Legislative Assembly witnessed uproarious scenes with the BJP insisting that the party be allowed to make a preliminary submission to move an adjournment motion seeking the resignation of Bengaluru Development Minister K J George.

Soon after question hour, Leader of the Opposition Jagadish Shettar said the party sought to move an adjournment motion seeking the resignation of George following the CBI filing an FIR against the minister in the DySP M K Ganapathi case.

Shettar said George had no right to continue in office till the CBI completes its investigation. The minister's continuation in office could lead to hampering evidence, he said.

The house witnessed the heated exchange of words between treasury and opposition members when Law Minister T B Jayachandra said that the BJP notice was faulty and should be rejected as the matter was sub-judice.

In his ruling, Speaker K B Koliwad rejected the notice of the BJP stating that the issue had already been discussed during the previous session.

BJP members trooped into the well of the House and staged a dharna even as Koliwad adjourned the House for lunch.

Bridge disparity in pay

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Tuesday informed the Legislative Assembly that the state government is committed to bridge the pay disparity between state and central government employees.

Replying to a question by Aihole D Mahalingappa (BJP), Siddaramaiah said the very purpose of the government to set up the 6th state pay commission is to suggest the quantum of revision in pay and allowances to state government employees.

The panel has sought time till January 31, 2018 to submit its report and the government will act appropriately immediately after the panel submits its recommendations.

Why George has to resign? How can it be proven just by a person's confession to the TV? May be he had lost his mental balance & spoke in hallucination just before committing suicide after inquiries were started against him. How about Baliga murder case which happened just a few weeks before this incident? There is proof of direct involvement in the latter.
Police job is tough. I would recommend good pay, accommodation, good food, recreation like gym, swimming for police personnel in their quarters so that they relax after their job.

Uproar in session by any opposition has become a routine, immaterial which party rules or in opposition. If someone is guilty of some act then he or she has no right to continue as Legislator. Resignation should come voluntarily. In the meantime why there is no uproar on the expenditure of the Legislator are incurring. We also find many a elected members are not serving to the needs of the public. Over and above that I am of a strong opinion that the Legislative council should be abolished in Karnataka. In what way it is beneficial to our state ? Whereas in Tamil Nadu it has been abolished and the assembly members only are seeing to the administration. It is certainly a burden to the tax payers money. We see no benefit out of this counsel. Public opinion needs to be taken and Government should take a step to abolish this soon.
