Mangalore, Jun 28: Well known singer Kodikal Nagaraj Kini inaugurated the activities of the Bhajans Club of Canara High school Main for this academic year. Speaking on the occasion, he noted, that singing of Bhajans has been accorded special importance in our traditions and culture. Singing of Bhajans provides us mental peace and allround affluence apart from helping in personality development, he said.
School headmaster H Raghavendra Rao presided over the function. Teacher convenor of the club Rajashree was present. On the occasion, Nagaraj Kini and Namratha Kini presented a programme of singing.
Teacher M Ganesh Kamat welcomed. Teacher Narmada presented the programme. Amrutha lent assistance.
Painting Club:
Painting Club of the highschool was inaugurated by Mahalasa Art School principal Purushotham Nayak. He delivered a lecture to the students on nuances of painting.
In charge headmaster of the school H Raghavendra Rao spoke words of encouragement for the students to develop painting skills. Drawing teacher of the school Jayant Shetty Ujire coordinated the programme. Student Dayakar Bhat rendered the prayer. Eranna proposed vote of thanks. Ramesh Kamat conducted the programme.
Quiz Club:
The current academic year's activities of the Quiz Club of the highschool were inaugurated recently by Prof Sadashiv Rao, professor in the department of physics, Canara College.
In charge headmaster of the school H Raghavendra Rao, Quiz Club teacher convenor Vidya Shetty and Dr Vageeshwari Shivaram were present.
Sanskrit Club:
Sanskrit Club of Canara Highschool Dongerkery was recently inaugurated by Sharada Vidyalaya PU college Sanskrit professor Ramesh Acharya. Addressing the students on the occasion, he advised them to always converse in Sanskrit for spreading that language and to conserve it for out future generations. There are many families in USA which engage in only Sanskrit conversations. Several works relating to science have been published in Sanskrit. We should usher in an era in which Sanskrit can be learnt in Sanskrit surroundings, he wished.
Konchadi Seetharam Bhat, guest, said that Sanskrit is the mother of all languages. To understand our culture, knowledge of Sanskrit is the basic requirement. Let us learn Sanskrit and live as cultured human beings, he hoped.
Sanskrit profesor Dr Vageeshwari Shivaram who announced the formation of the Sanskrit Club's executive committee, explained the Sanskrit programmes being organised by the club.
