Adrenaline Junkie Akshay Kumar Swims with Sharks

Mumbai, Jul 1: Bollywood star Akshay Kumar needs just an excuse to flirt with fear and danger.

Be it dangling a real python around his neck, or jumping off the elevated ledges, Akshay does it all in style and flamboyance. But getting up close and personal with more than two dozen sharks underwater is no easy ask and no mean task. Yet Akshay was game for it.

It was not for his personal adrenaline trip but for a movie shoot that Akshay reportedly took a deep plunge into the sea and shot a scene with as many as 35 sharks. And the plunge reportedly resulted in a close shave for Akki.

The actor, along with co-stars Sanjay Dutt and Lara Dutta , is in Bahamas shooting for film Blue , an action adventure set mostly under water. All the actors of the film have already undergone deep-sea Scuba diving training in Bangkok.

So Akshay was fully prepared to shoot this scene in which he goes 75 feet under water to the hull of a sunken ship amidst deadly sharks floating around him.

According to media reports, the sharks were trained and tamed for the shoot. To make the stunt safer, three trainers accompanied Akshay underwater.

But things did not go as planned.

While shooting underwater Akshay accidentally hit his head against the rusted metal of the wrecked ship and blood began to ooze out. The crew was immediately alarmed because sharks get attracted to the smell of blood. While the trainers tried to take the sharks away, the underwater crew rushed to stop Akshay’s bleeding and slowly carried him to the surface.

Thankfully, nothing untoward happened and Akshay even joked about the incident to the crew later on.

This is not the first time Akshay has swum with sharks. During the shooting of Vipul Shah’s film Aankhen , Akshay dived into a tank full of sharks and came back in a single piece.

This time also Akshay has cheated death and escaped the jaws of sharks, even if by just the skin of his teeth.
