Mumbai, Jul 1: After the success of Partner , the 'jodi no 1' of comedy, actor Govinda and director David Dhawan , will again try to tickle the funny bones of the viewers with Do Knot Disturb .
Two former beauty queens – Sushmita Sen and Lara Dutta – are working together for the first time in the film. Dhawan has also roped in actors Ritesh Deshmukh , Rajpal Yadav , Ranvir Shorey and Sohail Khan , besides his lucky mascot Govinda.
"Public likes to see us together. It is their unflinching love and faith which makes us successful together," Govinda says about his partnership with comedy king Dhawan that has given hits like 'Coolie No 1', 'Hero No 1', 'Sajan Chale Sasural' and 'Bade Miyan Chhote Miyan'.
"We have worked in 17 films together and have been one of the most successful director-actor pairs in the film industry. We will come together for many more projects in future as well," Dhawan said at a function in New Delhi Saturday evening to announce the start of the shooting of 'Do Knot Disturb'.
Dhawan is also planning a sequel of 'Partner'.
The film's leading lady Sushmita Sen said she and Govinda shared a very good chemistry onscreen and is enjoying shooting together again.
"Shooting with Chi Chi (Govinda) is always fun. He is a great prankster," she says.
Govinda, who is also a Congress MP, had kept himself away from films in recent years barring a few roles and a stint in a television quiz show, which did not meet with much success. He, however, found favour with viewers with 'Partner', co-starring Salman Khan , Lara Dutta and Katrina Kaif .
"I am making up for the three years that I lost not doing films. I am balancing my film career now." he says when asked about his disappearance from the silverscreen.
Govinda now admits that his decision to keep away from films was a mistake.
"I was nervous for the first shot for 'Partner'. I became normal only after the second shot," he says.
When asked about his opinion about the latest debutantes from the film fraternity -- Harman Baweja , Imran Khan and Sikander Kher , Govinda comes up with a politically correct answer, "I think all of them are very good, talented and hard-working youngsters."
"They work hard and are very professional in their life. They don't party and survive on boiled food to maintain a good physique," he quips.
With Shahrukh Khan making six-pack-abs a new fashion in film industry, will Govinda ever hit the gym to tone down?
"It is very difficult to do, but why not? We are actors and if a role demands something like that I will definitely try it," he says.
Ritesh, who had made a name with comedies like Apna Sapna Money Money , Masti and Malamaal Weekly , has teamed up with Dhawan for the first time.
"I had worked in some very good comedies and working with Dhawan completes the circle."
When asked about him being touted as the Govinda of the present generation, Deshmukh says, "It is a great complement for me to be compared with someone like him."
