Moodbidri, Jul 5: Alva's Education Foundation, which already runs Ayurvedic, Nursing, Physiotherapy, lab technology, naturopathy and other institutions besides schools and degree colleges, has added another feather to its cap with the starting of Alvas Institute of Engineering and Technology in Moodbidri.
The new engineering college, recognized by All India Council For Technical Education (AICTE) and affiliated to Visweswaraiah Technological University in the state, is offering four year computer science, information science, electronics and communications and mechanical engineering degree courses from the current year itself. Speaking at a press conference organized at the newly-built engineering college, Foundation chairman Dr M Mohan Alva informed, that the students have the option to choose this college during the casual vacancy round of CET counselling.
This two storied structure of the college has come up among lush green environs of Mizar Shobhavana. Alva said that the chemistry and physics laboratories, mechanical workshops, computer centre, CAD laboratory and spacious and well-stocked library and separate rooms set out for group studies and discussions have come in for lavish praise by the AICTE accreditation team.
The college campus has been equipped with spacious lecture halls, separate hostels for girls and boys, indoor and outdoor stadiums, modern teaching equipments etc., The college plans to offer MBA, MCA and other post graduate courses shortly, he revealed. Experienced teachers including Prof Govinde Gowda backed by rich experience of having worked in IIT (Kanpur) as the principal with three holders of doctorates, have been appointed to teach the students, Alva said.
Trustee of the foundation, M Vivek Alva and joint administrator N R Ballal were present.
