Udupi, Jul 5: A state level UGC sponsored workshop on strengthening physics teaching at B Sc level was organised at Milagres College Kallianpur by the department of physics, Milagres College, in association with the Association of Physics Teachers Mangalore University, on 4th  and 5th of July, 2008 in the Silver Jubilee Hall of Milagres College. Principal Fr . Fed Mascarenhas presided.

NITK Suratkal professor Dr S M Kulakarni inaugurated the workshop. He spoke in detail about nanotechnology and its various applications. Physics teachers of 20 Colleges from Coorg,D.K and Udupi districts participated in the workshop and discussed on new syllabus, besides preparing a question bank. New experiments were demonstrated for the benefit of the participants.
 
Co ordinator of the programme Dr Gerald Pinto, head of the deparment of physics of Milagres College welcomed the gathering. Dr A P Bhat paid homage to eminent astronomer and great science writer late G T Narayana Rao, who expired recently. President of the Association of Physics teachers of Mangalore University explained the objectives of the workshop. Prof. Asha Pakkal, treasurer of Association proposed vote of thanks.
