Udupi, Jul 7: Dr V S Acharaya, state home and district-in-charge minister released 9 Tulu books which are published by Dravidian University, located at Kuppam on the border of Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka, on Sunday July 6 evening, during the programme held at MGM College Ravindra Mantap, here. The programme was jointly organized by Dravidian University, Kuppam, Rastra Kavi Govind Pai Research Centre, Udupi and Academy of General Education, Manipal.
Dr Acharaya, speaking at the occasion, said that if Dravidian University provides the papers on the research conducted on Tulu, with regard to its history, distinct features and quality, to state government; it would recommend the union government in order to include Tulu in the 8th volume of national constitution. BJP led state government would always stand for the due respect to Kannada and Tulu.
Dravidian University vice-chancellor Dr Acharya Gangi Shetty Laxminarayana, while presiding over the programme, said that 27 languages in all form Dravidian language. However, in its original history it mere focuses on the history of northern India while disregarding the vital history of southern India.
Academy of General Education registrar K K Pai was also present at the occasion. Prof Muralidhar Upadhyaya, offered information on the Tulu released books.
Vamana Nandavar, Dr Vasant Kumar Perla, MGM College principal Jayaprakash Mavinakuli, were also present on the dais.
Hiriadka First Grade College principal Dr Padekal Vishnu Bhat welcomed the gathering. Dravidian University head of department of Tulu and translation Shivakumar proposed vote of thanks.
Rastra Kavi Govind Pai Research Centre director Prof H Krishna Bhat compered the programme.
