Karkala, Jul 7: In a daring attempt, a few persons tried to kill an autorickshaw driver from Shirtadi named Satish Poojary on Sunday July 6 evening. Sathish Poojari who was grievously injured, has been admitted into the intensive care unit of A J Hospital in Mangalore for treatment after being given priliminary treatment at Moodbidri Alva's Hospital.

Sathish Poojari, whose autorickshaw was hired by a passenger to go to Makki near here, was returning after dropping the passenger when a local Lakshman Poojary hit Poojari's auto with his jeep. After Sathish Poojari got stuck inside the autorickshaw that was damaged and stranded, Lakshman Poojary, Rajendra Poojari, his wife and someothers reportedly dragged him out of the rickshaw and attacked him with swords. Poojari, who was wounded in the head, both hands and legs, was bleeding on the road when another rickshaw driver Pravin Kumar carried him to Alva's Hospital Moodbidri.

An attempt to finish off Poojari was made about two weeks ago at Gandhinagar Moobidri by strangulating him. The repeated attempts to murder Poojari are said to have been borne out of a long-standing enmity Poojari has with his attackers.
