Udupi: Release of book 'Surgical Manual of Skull Base Surgery'

Udupi, Jul 9: Manipal University vice chancellor Dr Rajsekharan Warrier will be releasing a work titled 'surgical manual of skull base surgery' at 6.30 pm today, at a function being organised at Hotel Valley View, Manipal. The book has been authored by the department of ENT of Kasturba Medical College and Hospital. In a press release, KMC Hospital Manipal stated that it is presenting this extremely valuable book with great pride.

The authors claim, that the book is the first of its kind to be published in India on this specific subject. The book brings forth the rich experience and vast exposure the authors have had in skull based surgeries.

The release of the book will be followed by by a scientific programme consisting of combined talks on skull base surgery by Dr Rajasekharan Warrier, Dr A Raja, Dr Cariappa and Dr Suresh Pillai. Dr Sathish Bhandary, ENT Dept, KSHEMA will be delivering a talk on Juvenile Nasopharyngeal Angiofibroma.

Skull Base Surgery is a specialized field, which is essentially a team work of the surgical departments like neurosurgery, ENT and oral maxillofacial surgery. It requires training and obtaining skills based on exposure at the specialized centres. The dedicated team of skull base surgeons at Kasturba Hospital have been dealing with tumours of skull base surgery for over 25 years now, the release stated.
