Karkala, Jul 9: A person died here owing to suspected rat fever on Monday, July 7. The diseased has been identified as Shivanand Mestri (40), son of Mahabal Mestri, resident of Joduraste near here.
He was suffering from rat fever since a week. Delay in diagnosing the disease resulted in the death, sources claimed.
Chikungunya has already spread all over the district since the last few few weeks resulting in agony and desperation. Close on the heels of dengue, it is the turn of rat fever now, to spread its tentacles slowly in different parts of the district.
