Cloud cover improve temperatures in J&K


Jammu/Srinagar, Dec 10 (IANS): Minimum temperatures throughout Jammu and Kashmir improved on Sunday due to a cloud cover prompting authorities to fully prepare for heavy rains and snowfall from Monday night, according to the weather office.

The office has forecast rains and snowfall for three days and also said the inclement weather could disrupt air and surface traffic across the state.

"The minimum temperature in Srinagar was minus 1.2 degrees Celsius while in Jammu city it was 9.4," a Met official said.

"The lowest minimum temperatures was recorded in Leh at minus 9.7 degrees Celsius followed by Kargil at minus 9.2.

"Pahalgam town recorded minus 2.1 and Gulmarg 0 degree Celsius. In the Jammu region, Katra, Batote, Bannihal, Bhaderwah and Udhampur towns recorded 10.4, 7.2, 3.4, 5.4 and 5.8 as the minimum temperatures respectively," the official added
