J&K shivers as Kargil freezes at minus 11.2


Srinagar, Dec 16 (IANS): As the minimum temperatures throughout the Kashmir Valley remained below freezing point on Saturday, Kargil at minus 11.2 witnessed the coldest night of this season so far.

The Met has forecast cold, dry weather till Monday adding that the existing cold wave conditions in Jammu and Kashmir were likely to continue during this period.

The minimum in Kargil's neighbouring Leh town was minus 9.6. While Srinagar city recorded minus 1.1, Pahalgam minus 3.5 and Gulmarg minus 9.6 degrees Celsius.

Jammu city recorded 5.1, Katra town 6.4, Batote 0.7, Bannihal minus 1.3, Bhaderwah minus 1.0 and Udhampur 4.1 degrees Celsius.
