Udupi, Jul 15: Thieves had stolen mobile sets and other equipments worth about Rs 2, 50,000 by breaking into Asha Bakery, Padubidri by demolishing a backdoor, on the night of Sunday June 22.
Surprisingly the thieves rigged a hole in the wall at the same patch from where they had gained entry into the shop the last time on the night of Sunday July 13. The shop owners had built a wall in place of the damaged door by using crushed stones and concrete, and the thieves rigged a hole in this wall, before entering the shop and sifting through the entire shop for valuables.
As the owners, alerted by the earlier theft, used to carry home valuables like mobiles at night, the thieves could lay hands only on some goods valued at a little over Rs 10,000 including an Icon camera, car DVD, FM speaker box, sweet packets, tooth paste, cold drinks etc., They also stole shoes and chappals worth about Rs 4,500 by removing the tiles of Shoe Kemp, a footwear shop located by the side of Asha Bakery. Even though they entered the neighbouring mobile repair shop named Mobile Point, they did not steal anything.
Both the thefts have taken places on Sunday nights.
