Bengaluru: Techie who went to meet OLX buyer goes missing, friends launch campaign

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru

Bengaluru, Dec 25: A 29-year-old software engineer from Patna has gone missing under mysterious circumstances in Whitefield area since December 18.

Ajitabh Kumar, working for a British Telecom, had put up his car for sale on OLX. On Monday he told his roommates he was going to meet a prospective buyer and left home around 6.30 pm. He was active on WhatsApp till 7.10 pm and later his phone was switched off. The last location of his mobile phone was Gunjur near Whitefield.

"We are investigating all angles. We have sought data from the online classified portal and also his call records. The investigation so far has not suggested anything out of the ordinary in Ajitabh's personal and professional life," says a police officer investigating the case.

Ajitabh moved to Bengaluru in 2010 and since then he has been staying with his childhood friend Ravi in Whitefield.

Ajitabh was selected to join the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) in 2018 for an executive MBA programme. He had put the car for sale as he wanted the money to pay his fee. Ajitabh owns a Maruti Ciaz which he bought for Rs 12 lac and had quoted Rs 11.8 lac on OLX as sale price. His brother Arnabh suspects that someone has kidnapped him on the pretext of buying his car.

Ajitabh's friends and relatives have launched an online campaign to find him.

Hi. Always the buyer and seller must teke care to meet the person at a public place. A seller should never give ur vehicle to buyer to take a testvdrive even if u know them. Never Trust any one be it ur chaddi friend, langotiya yaar, classmate, friends friend, frirnds relative, relatives friend etc. Never handover documents untill Full amount is recieved. Dont trust any one if hold a part of payment saying they will pay after transfer of documents, thats not your problem.
A buyer should never pay more amount as booking amount. Also must never buy second vehicle witgout proper verification and satisfaction. Never buy a vehicle if that does not belong to the seller.

Any wrong doer is just a wrong doer and should not be looked from any religious or caste or language or location angle be it theif, a kidnapper, a rapist etc.

This is the current law and order situation in Karnataka under Siddu's rule. This Congress Government rule is good for thugs, cheaters and scammers. Online scammers are busy looting common man as much as possible under Siddu's rule.

He shouldn't have gone to their place.Any sellers when you are going to sell.See whether your product is worth ,precious electronic items like mobile phones or anyother tell them to come to food court area in shopping mall ,or choose whichever area crowded. If its acar call them to your area.Remember you are in India.
If anyones calls you for lonely areas never go.Even if you are badly in need of money be patient. But never go for temptations. It ll cost your life.

@Rathan mangalore, please stop mixing politicians name for everything .Kindly think of the persons safety.Nowadays it s common such wrong buyers call as any other people. They call the person mostly evening or faraway from sellers place.and fix a place where no people go.Then just attack them with weapons and make them to leave the car and either harm them ,rob everything .let him wounded there and flee.Such things happen in Europe too.Thats why one shouldnt never go to them.Instead call the interested person to come to you, better have someone with you for safety. In amatter of lacs, such people have no scrupple.Dont believe any strangers.I think you got this in your head and stop blaming poilticians.Hope the fellow will be found safe and return back with no injurys.

The person who is gone missing is not an unaducated one and he is not a small child
As the law and order is a state subject the ruling govt has the responsibility of its
citizen.this is not the first case of this type and failure of state govt to tackle these
type of crimes and also other rape /murder in the recent past has given these anti
social elements a free run to commit these type of crimes.as you r a old DW reader
I think you know how readers were commenting upon MODI govt for
    any thing under the sun.
